ALCHEMY

Hamburg Germany

15.12.2024 - 28.02. 2025

The solo exhibition Alchemy  explored processes of transformation in nature, matter, and the human psyche. Drawing inspiration from alchemical thought, the works investigated how inner states become visible through organic forms, fluid structures, and evolving material processes.

Rather than depicting alchemy itself, the exhibition approached painting as an alchemical practice: a space where intuition, experimentation, and transformation converge. Through the use of pigments, metals, water, and reactive materials, the works reflected on the relationship between the visible and the invisible, the physical and the spiritual, inviting viewers to consider change not as a fixed event, but as a continuous process of becoming.

"Belén's work is a ritual of transformation in which the physical and metaphysical worlds overlap and the boundaries between matter, mind and imagination disappear. She captures the fluid and cyclical patterns of change. Her art becomes a portal for a better understanding of transformation, not only in nature, but also in the human experience."

Louisa von Saucken, Art historian, representative of Ketterer Kunst in Hamburg, and board member of the Deichtorhallen Supporters' Circle
